We’ve all been there when we’re busy, feel hungry but still have loads to do, and don’t really have the time to sit down and eat a good meal.
Here are a 5 tasty and delicious calorie friendly options for getting some decent nutrition in fairly quickly which you can get from most supermarkets.
1) Grenade Carb Killa Bars
A great-tasting high protein bar which tastes even better when its zapped in the microwave for 30 seconds or so. I have seen people do this and add it to toast so the chocolate melts on the bread (I have yet to try this!)
2) ARLA SKYR YOGURTS
Skyr is an Icelandic dairy product and is very similar to strained yogurt.
High protein, (found this really does fill you up) low fat, low calorie yogurt that has a thick and creamy consistency, comes in a variety of different flavours and would be boosted with the addition of a small banana or some berries.
3) TREK BARS
This is a filling, tasty oat flapjack to boost energy levels. There’s several flavours from cocoa chocolate to peanut butter.
They’re pretty good for dunking in a warm brew too!
4) 9 BARS- 275cals
A filling, sweet mixed seed bar which is soft and moist which come in a variety of flavours.
In contrast to the Trek bar, depending on flavour this is a higher fat, lower carb option to the Trek Bar making it slightly higher in calories.
These are sadly not the best for dunking in warm brews!
5) JOHN WEST MACKEREL FILLETS
Great tasting mackerel which contains omega 3 fats (essential fats that we must be get through food).
With a fairly decent serving of protein, even better if you double up.
Grab a bag of baby spinach, or a small cucumber to go with it, you pretty much have yourself a nutritious meal!
If you keep selection of these stocked up at home or at work in a box or drawer for quick and convenience, you shouldn't get caught short on a busy day.
