“WHAT EXERCISE SHOULD I DO TO LOSE A BIT OF TUMMY FAT?”

I get asked this question quite a lot and the answer isn't what you'd expect.

The idea that you can lose body fat from a particular area is called “spot reduction.”

And in reality…....

IT DOESN’T EXIST!
(Despite how many people claim they have products or exercises that do this)

To lose body fat you need to be in a calorie deficit (expending more calories than you are consuming).

When you lose body fat, you lose it across your entire body, it’s not just pinpointed to a specific area, although some of us will genetically hold more fat in certain areas and maybe more stubborn to shift.

If you did 1000 sit-ups a day and that helped you achieve a calorie deficit, then great you may well lose some tummy fat as well as fat from the rest of your body.

The exercise ALONE will not result in fat loss.

If you see anything that disguises itself as something that spot reduces (apart from liposuction)

Don’t be misled or spend money pursuing it!

Stick to the tried and tested method of a calorie deficit and adding some exercise into your daily routine
